Personal Work & Hobbies

A quick note
Below, there's a collection of work I did in my spare time as well as a dump of various hobbies with pictures and videos.  Enjoy.

Side Projects
All sorts of coding projects
2D Metaballs
Capstone at WPI for Animations class. 3D and Animations programming is something I will forever be interested in. You can see a demonstration here.
Mathma
An Android game I made over a 3 day weekend. The challenge I gave myself was to create a game without any words (save for credits and title). Just like many arcade and NES games. It's in the store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lukaszworks.mathma
Vermilion
An Android app that allows you to add videos, bookmark your favorite parts (like chapters of audiobook) for later return. It utilizes proximity sensor to turn the screen off so you can put your phone in your pocket and listen. Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lukaszworks.vermilion

Boxing wearable game
No picture, sorry. I finished an app for the Microsoft Band right as it was discontinued. The premise was to work out, and calories burned turned to effort points to upgrade your boxer in-app. I had a 30-chapter story line, and rudimentary PvP based on week-long contracts between friends.
Hobbies
Here are some activities I've enjoyed
Snowboarding
I'm not a very good snowboarder. I started in 2015. I particularly enjoy the views however, and runs that don't end with me falling. Here's one after I got my GoPro. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnPy8dk2fTU
Sumo
This was a one-off. This guy was 6'5", 385lbs - I decided to bulk up a bit in the 2 weeks I had since I signed up, but it didn't matter. He went on to win US Sumo Open two weeks later. At least I can say that I only lost to the champion.
Biking
Not a lot of sun in Seattle, so I try to get as much biking done as I can during the spring and early summer. Every year I make a trip from Microsoft campus to the Space Needle either via I-90 or the 520.
Guitar
I started learning to play guitar around the same time I started snowboarding. I can't say I'm any good, but I can say that I enjoy it enough to continue playing years later. That's my AmPro Fender Strat in the picture.
Driving
Road trips in general, but I also enjoy more aggressive forms of driving on closed courses. This was taken at a BMW event where I got to drive the new 2020 BMW M340i.
Horseback Riding
Another one of the things that I don't do more than once every few years. This was taken at Banff on my way to Calgary. Everything from the weather, to the trail was perfect. All but the silly large helmet, that is.
Making Food
Whether it's stuffed crust pizza, chicken sausage tagine, pesto panko chicken with breaded zucchini, chickpeas over couscous, or simply waffles, food made by hand has an extra rewarding taste to it.
Wing Walking
The act of moving around a biplane mid-flight and an unforgettable experience. One of the more recent adventures of mine, captured and shared right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYdg1qlzHlU
Travel and Photography
I was fortunate enough to travel with my friends to Japan back in 2016. We spent 3 weeks making our way from Tokyo to Hiroshima stopping at Mt. Fuji, Kyoto, Osaka and other places along the way.

In 2018, I spent a month solo traveling Europe, touring many museums and visiting family. I made stops in places such as Rome, Krakow, Warsaw, Berlin, Amsterdam, The Hague, Paris and London.

In 2023, I made my way to through Central America, South America, all the way to Antarctica. Spent some time in the Caribbean on the way back.

Also in 2023, I circumnavigated the world. From NYC, I traveled through east Asia, Australia, New Zealand, to southeast Asia, India, southern Africa, North Africa, Europe from Portugal to Poland, Middle East, and finally Turkey before heading back home.

When not taking month-long trips abroad, I used to take weekend road trips such as the Cascade Loop or around the Olympic Peninsula, or to nearby cities like Portland, Vancouver, or a bit farther to Calgary.

I shared more photographs in the Photography section, but here's a sample.
What's next? Here are some things I was thinking:
Travel to all continents (done)
Paragliding
Falconry
Sky diving
Edge Walk at CN Tower (done)
